Honestly, I think no one younger than 14 should be reading anything smutty or generally nsfw. Any age for yaoi/yuri is fine, but younger audiences should stick to fluffy stories. Reading nsfw yaoi/yuri at a young age leads to the fetishization of gay/lesbian relationships and creates the toxic yaoi/yuri fans that we all know and “love”. 2 reply
Yaoi is for adults so I don't think there is an age for being "too old" to read yaoi as long as you enjoy it. And for how much is too young I would say it's fine any age as long as you understand whats going on and that it's a FICTIONAL world, and that in general things from yaoi should not be applied to real life 1 reply

am i the only one who started read yaoi at the age of 20? and i quite glad about that cause i dont think reading some sexual content at the young age is beneficial. and it concerns me so much about how a lot of underage kids in the yaoi fan group. i mean they label 18+ for a reason tho. 1 reply

i think that started at 14 is correct. But reading manga is something that adults don't understand in my country (France) cause they often assimilate it to children's book, maybe they don't know how smut a yaoi can be ^^. but anyway i'm not of this generation so i'll read yaoi as long as the stories suit my personnality ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Uh for starters, yaoi is basically for 18+ but no one goes by that rule at all. For example, for me I started reading some yaoi at 13 and I find no problems with that. I’m mean there really isn’t a too young unless they are reading some hardcore straight up sex yaois then...yeah but i can’t really put an age to it because i grew up in yaoi it started off with shounen ai but when i became 11 discovered that there could be more .
