illegal uploading/reading controversy
now that mangago is once again under fire by korean authors, i just have a question. i think the authors are completely justified in wanting their work removed, but i'm just wondering why i never see this energy directed towards korean websites like toonkor, newtoki, etc. like are they also targeting those websites and im not seeing it or are they just not aware/dont care or somethin? i dont really keep up with their twitter accounts so maybe i've just missed it but i wanted to know if anyone else was wondering the same thing
I think this has a lot to do with how fast Mangago has grown as a community after social media apps got involved. It’s posted a lot on these apps and websites, causing attention to be directed at it (It was a trend on tiktok to not censor the link or announce that they read on mangago). Literally though, like uhm, who else hands us the raws?? Either way, it's probably cause they don't like foreigners, and That this is a big site that has already been spread everywhere. reply
maybe because this is one of the biggest site plus other site remove manhwas so fast and mangago take few days to remove maybe thats why they focus here so much reply
they are though. you probably notice them less because 1)they wouldnt have any of those complaints in english because it's a korean site and im pretty sure a lot of non-korean people taking part in the drama can't read korean. unless you go through every tweet it's easy to skim past things you don't understand. 2) it's easier to deal with them with...... reply
I think they're doing more offline work for the korean sites, like contacting lawmakers, filing lawsuits, etc. I usually see petitions to punish people who spread illegal works online on the korean side of twitter. However, like the US, I'm not sure what kinds of laws exist right now that can protect artists/creators from piracy. It may be somethin...... reply
