The Ariel movie…
Did y’all see how people were so bitter over her race?? I would understand if the plot of the story was of cultural significance like Mulan or Aladdin but a damn fish?? “Ariel is Dutch she has to be white!!!!” NOBODY GAF complaining over a damn kids show…be fr Halle ate up her role
I've never seen it but I'm sure there were many kids who loved to a black person as Ariel, but Halle got a lot of death threats over her role and I understand why some black people are so upset about the directors swapping her race because it still shows that we can't have a black lead without having a story already in place, but I'm kinda in betwe...... reply
The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice. Literally like making her black gave this movie a better kick than it would be if she was just white. I fully support the black washing agenda 1 reply

The fact that ppl are arguing over her race even though it's a movie MADE FOR CHILDREN. I get it, I grew up on the OG Little Mermaid movie but that doesn't mean that this live adaption is bad. Even though I haven't watched I still feel like it did well after all, IT'S MADE FOR KIDS. Not adults BUT KIDS. So it makes no sense that you argue over here...... reply
EXACTLY OMG!! the people complaining about "blackwashing" are so stupid and saying "well what if [insert character] was turned white? huh" when whitewashing literally is literally white supremacy and making characters have black features is not.
and this all ties in that race is not real and was created by europeans to feel superior 2 reply
Yeah you could say its no big deal but when you go see an adaptation of something from your childhood you want it to be accurate so you feel nostalgic watching it. When they make big visual changes and changes to the story it loses the nostalgic effect.
Also if Disney made a tiana remake and cast a white actor people who say its not a big deal t...... 4 reply
