I wait for official translations, buy some of the chapters or most of the time just drop the series altogether. Sometimes the translations can be so bad that I understand nothing. English isn't my first language, so it's particularly hard to understand broken Google translations. It's supposed to be a translation so that people can understand what'...... 2 reply
I mean if it's a story with no official english translation & I'm really into the premise I'll take the bad translations anyday I'll just bullshit the story to my liking if it's too bad & I'll still be able to look at the pretty pictures

I hate bad scanlations. At least they should typeset properly and not just use Ariel and have the sentences be in some random place in the speech bubble or even out of it completely reply
to be fair im reading raws without understanding shit.. so i can get the idea even if it's bad translated if i really wanna see what happens.
although for a complex story i would rather wait for the officials because it gets annoying (i dropped dear door for the exact same reason) reply
Great question! judging by the other answers here this is a minority opinion, but I would choose no update. Here's why:
I totally get the desire for quick and dirty over slow and excellent, but I think readers should consider the value of the original creators' words as much as their drawings. Imagine if it wasn't the words that were being retrans...... reply

Seeing an update after a long time for a beloved series with a fantastic translation and good typesetting/cleaning is like a little special treat.

I just wait for better or official translations. If i read bad translations I will end up losing interest in the story. It has ruined my enjoyment for a few stories that I was really into. So i ended up putting those stories on hold. Fortunately the official translation were uploaded so I started from the beginning of those stories that I had dropp...... reply
