People always act so shocked when I genuinely wish misogynist and racist would straight die, like why should I be nice to them? I get it. But I don't think there are people beyond redemption. I think the actions of those people are reprehensible, but simply telling them to die wont really do much. My mother is a bigot, and especially because I am a closeted trans and queer person her words hurt me a lot. She's also racist, and I'm not black and I'll never really be able to understand the pain of racism, but simply pushing her out of my life is a bit selfish I think. What is she going to do to other people? And I wont be there. I don't think she's a bad person. She wants to be a good person, but she obviously falls. She is very bigotted, but I don't think she cant be better. That is not to say that I think we should simply brush bigotry off. It should be taken very seriously, I don't care if I get called a snowflake or an SJW for calling them out. I personally preffer explaining to them how much of a Piece of shit they are at that moment, and tell them to fuck off if they don't want to be better. The only way a misogynist or a white supremacist, or a queerphobe can become a better person is if they are willing to do the work. No matter how harmless something seems, casual bigotry is still bigotry. We've just normalised it in our society. The bigots with the most violent reteric are the ones we need to pay attention to the most, because who knows what they might do to a marginalised person. I live in Germany, and I'm not sure if its as bad as it is in the US, but Fascism still exists here.

You're absolutely right. I do think people can change, but they are only capable of doing that if they truly want to. I feel like my mom does Show signs of wanting to be better, but I can't know for shure until she actually does it. I've been into arguments with her so many times, and nothing worked. But that doesn't mean its futile. If she still keeps being a piece fo shit, there isn't really anything I can do. She'll have to do it by herself if she still wants me to be her son when I become an adult
