I 15M got into an arguement with my friend 14F bcs her art is looking a lot like mine. I'm talking about super recognisable details like eyes, mouth, nose, torsos, and just the overall style. I've known her for 3 years now, and I discovered that since we met, she has been using my art as reference and barely changing anything. And I personally think it's okay to use other artists's art as reference, but you ought to change somethings if you actually know the person irl yk? Like, it's super shitty to just steal and claim it as your own.
In the end when I confronted her abt it with proof, and she said that our art doesn't look anything alike since her art isn't as good as mine, and that it is impossible to copy art styles. Even when she said that she tried sooo hard to copy my art style, but she couldn't bcs she wasn't good enough, so I agreed with her as a joke (I was trying to liven up the arguement) but then she started saying how I'm so self-centered and blah blah blah. When the egocentrical one is her, she makes EVERYTHING abt herself, and only talks abt herself when she has a conversation with most people.
Have in mind that she is rlly childish and acts weird/over the top. She has made a lot of gorss jokes like rape jokes and wtv. It's also one of the reasons why I didn't even like her b4 we stopped being friends.
She then proceeded to get her old ass discord mod friend to back her up... And when I called HER out for she said she told her friend to not harass me, but then who gave her friend my username?? OFC IT WAS HER ALL ALONG. Anyways, in the end she said she didn't want to be freinds with me anymore, so now she doesn't come to lunch and goes to the library like a dumbass.

Putting aside that she seems like an insufferable person. Girl imma be fr w/ you rn, I've literally seen so much art that looks just like yours. Like the eyelashes and anime style arent rlly new, and bc the only difference in anime art styles are eye size or face shape, face width, they all end up havin some face syndrome and if they were to slightly alter a characters face from the usual formula they use that makes their art style distinct from others, it would prolly just wound up lookin similar to another persons style. We all take inspo from each other, no art is rlly ever new or doesn't have similarities to other arts that is out there. Now if you art style was incredibly stylized, like im talkin abstract shapes and wacky colors and stuff w/ an ongoing theme of smthing like idk goth, emo, or lolita, THEN, I could understand. But you're art is kinda basic, not a bad thing your art is good, but theres bound to be other art that looks just like yours because of its simplicity.

idk I draw and i do see some similarities, like the over exaggerated under lashes and the scratchy lines on the nose. But I would also like to put out a new perspective, maybe she looks up to you as an artist, maybe she wants to learn from you, maybe she wants to be closer with you through a medium you both enjoy. I think it's cliche to say this but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I would also like to add that maybe you've copied styles of artist you've enjoyed before, maybe not just one artist but several. A lot of people love to draw exaggerated lashes (me included lol) and adding blush lines (idk what they are called) on the nose (i used to do that aswell).
it's how well you're able to put your own spin on it that makes it your own art style. (Inspiration vs Directly Plagiarizing) She's 14, she's still feeling out her own space within the art world.
HOWERVER...
I do think it is completely valid of you to not want to be friends with this person because of the way they act. I totally get why you're not comfortable around people like that and don't wish to continue the friendship. Maybe this was the situation that broke the camel's back.

The mincraft parkour was all I needed for this to be perfect. But I do see your point, and I agree with you. But to be honest, it just really annoyed me the way she acts, and just her overall personality. Yes, I have taken inspo from other artists, but it hasn't been to the point where I make myself pityful for them to compliment me. And I have given her art tips which made her improve and it made me happy to see her self- esteem grow, but she has told me that I would regret helping her ☠☠ And when I would share my art in a gc where we were both in, she would ignore it and just send her's instead ☠ She was a really draining person to be around, so I'm glad I don't talk to her at all, and she was also the reason why my friendgroup would get kinda bullied last year ☠☠
