I don't mind polyamorous relationships, in fact I like it, but the ones I've read is usually just two people dating one person. And I'm sorry if I sound ignorant in any way but like, aren't they supposed to date each other and not just teaming up to date one person? I saw this in one BL I've read (don't ask for the sauce cause I forgot the goddamn name) where two guys only show affection to each other (albeit too little to the point it's nonexistent) whenever the third guy is around. And their world just... revolves to the third guy. At this point I'm thinking it's just a convenient way to get three of them together instead of actual feelings involved to all parties. Just a small insignificant rant.
IRL polyamory is not really the same for everyone. Sometimes it's two people dating one person separately, sometimes they all date each other, sometimes there's more than three people. Polyamory is just a non monogamous relationship where everyone involved agrees to the arrangement, but it doesn't mean they all HAVE to date each other.
Oh dear, I knew I'm being ignorant, but you're right, it might be different for everyone. I guess the situation I've ranted about is just another case of polyamorous relationships, my apologies.
