i'm mortified, i've been reading mangas all my life and when i stumbled upon bl during my 'youth' (lol) i keep on reading shounen AI as shounen AI, like the AI (short for artificial intelligence) for years and years that's how i read it. And then, we had this mini reunion with my high school friends, i was talking with this person i was really closed with and we started talking about manga and stuff and i said something about shounen ey-ay and i was like ⊙.☉ and they were like ⊙.☉
and then we continued talking and i buried that topic alongside my dignity.
please tell me that's how the common folks read it too, cmon i'm not the only one, right? right?
This reminds me of when I used to play genshin in Japanese and when i used to talk to my friends about the characters I used to have the most ridiculous pronounciation for the English name of all the characters . I remember pronouncing Xinqiu and ZinQ lmao and many many more
