Living alone in college T^T
To the college students here, how did you persuade your parents to let you live in a dorm? I talked to my mom, and she agreed to let me enroll in my desired college school, but my family will accompany me because we live in the province, and the college is in the capital. I've worked so hard to persuade my mom to let me attend this school, I'm a consistent honor student, and I was hoping to use that as leverage to persuade her that I won't be distracted while I dorm, (that didn't work) They have worries that I would become pregnant or use drugs, they do not trust me despite my grades,what should I do? any suggestions? (I'm grade 11 btw) Or not dorming jhust a tiny rental apartment, I just want to live alone while college, I don't want them to follow me anymore.
Idk say something about gaining actual independence maybe?
It seems like your parents are quite strict so saying something like "to make friends or have a better experience in college" won't work
I'd say really try to play on their feelings say you'll move out eventually and living by urself will help you become more accustomed to it; maybe try and...... reply
i didn't have to persuade my mom but my cousin was a girl and used to have bfs, so she let my mom talk to auntie hehe this is what we used to do, we let older people talk to our parents since they like take them more seriously... she's now in a dorm in front of mine (one of the conditions haha)... reply
Tell them this is your best opportunity to enter the adulthood life and take care of your needs on your own. That it's something you'd like to experience at your age, and grow as a person who can be mature and integrate in this society, just like they did back in the days I suppose.

Honestly I feel like living at the dorms aint all that.
Like I think when I get into college, I'll probably just live remote since the dorms are so small and then some people don't know how to clean up after themselves. 1 reply
