Saw that one question about kpop here and it made me realize something. Ya'll it's fascinating how asian pop music are labeled with a letter acronym before the word 'pop' (e.g. Kpop, Jpop, Cpop; and lately I discovered that there's also Ppop = Philippine Pop).
It makes me wonder somehow. As an asian, why do we need to put a letter before pop when pop music is pop music nonetheless. Western pop can easily be referred to as 'pop' while ours needs categorization. At first I was kinda sad about this coz it's like a form of alienation but after some time, I see it positively coz it gives identity to our music.
