when do you stop/drop reading a story? what reasons?
I usually stop/drop a story when I mentally start to wish death upon the author and/or the main characters.
Like the author's story pisses me off so much I wished the author and/or mc to die, is when I know I done fucked up becauss IT'S NOT THAT DEEP. I'm self-aware so don't @ me. I already dropped several stories due to this.
I can usually tolerate a lot of things so when I start wishing death is truly the final sign I need to gtfo.
I mean when I got first into reading manga/manwha, nothing was a stop sign. I think growing older, and getting my actual tastes set out resulted in my standards becoming a bit higher. Which allows me to just drop a book if the ick is high. 1 reply
When rape is sexualised in any format. I'm okay with sensitive topics such as SA displayed in stories as it can deepen a character or plot or whatever, but when an author puts it in just to satisfy their fucked up horny needs I get so unbelievably mad I drop it without second thoughts.

I basically only drop things that I find boring. Hate reading is fun, but if it's just boring then what's the point. Lots of secondhand embarrassment can also make me drop stuff, but usually I'll just take an extended break to mentally prepare myself. reply
artstyle and characters are rly significant for me, but mostly the stories that i dropped were ones of second hand embarrasment, plot so slow continents drifting away are faster, or certain icks of genre and point like harem or love triangle for example reply
Bad art-style.
May seem petty, but I can't concentrate on a story if the art-style is bad. You can't make me read mob psycho 100 with that art-style. The anime is as far as I go.
ONE SIDED pinning.
There is a certain limit to how much I can endure one side pinning while the other character is completely indifferent. The most boring trope ever.
