Thinking about yaoi logic

Stardust Stardust 2024-04-23 14:26:07 About first feeling reading yaoi
Why do so many yaoi readers see no problem with rape, stalking, kidnapping and abuse being romanticized in yaoi but can not stand cheating? I am not gonna say most because many yaoi fans in the forums are not like that but there are still tons of yaoi fans who do not mind some of the most toxic shit being romanticized in yaoi but get mad if cheating is being romanticized. Like what's the thought process? At the end of the day "it's just fiction" right? Like why do they not apply that same logic for cheating that they're applying for crimes that are much much worse than cheating. If you have hard time believing what I am saying then just see how common rape trope is in yaoi and how rare cheating trope is compared to that. Look at this manhwa for example.

https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_alpha_s_circumstances_novel/

The only manhwa where any of the main characters are seen cheating is this one and the ratings are as low as 7.1. But the rapey manhwas like POTN, Waterside night have huge fanbase and ratings as high as 9.5 and 9.4.

That's literally the entire reason I dont really read Yaoi but also just romance as a whole. Literally the first yaois I've ever read which were reccomend by hella people and talked about the most were Killing Stalking and Painter of the Night. It literally traumatized me so bad that I rarely touch yaoi since. I always check the comments first to make sure there isnt rape because it's so common. I know it's not in the same genre but I like femdom shit as well but literally every single time I find one I think has a good plot, the fl rapes someone. Why is it so damn hard to find romance without the love interest being absolutely fucking insane and getting away with it?

I do see people hating on the shit that's going on but there still are some rapist/asshole protectors. I am guilty.. I read waterside night but I'll never once say the ml is a good guy.I started it from chapter 60 I guess..and i know he raped the mc..I never read it but still. I don't really wanna judge someone for reading what they are reading it's their choice but the only thing that icks me up is why do they feel the need to protect the pos. Like if you wanna read....go ahead but stop with all the nonsense about "he was enjoying too"..."he's just saying no but doesn't look like that"..."he's a mafia what did you expect". Like people need to grow tf up.Non consensual sex is rape...it always will be.

This is the main thing the BL community talks about

Imma js say both ntr and rape or kidnapping, etc is absolute bullshit. Ppl that like the romanticization of these probably have fantasies about these stuff and obv the crimes are more famous bc self indulgence in stories, and when it comes to cheating, people don't wanna indulge in that. Some do IG, but bl readers don't. Idk what I'm yapping about either

I suppose it's because the rape is "done out of love". The rapist "loves the victim so much" that they "can't hold back".
With cheating there simply is no "romantic" interpretation. But all the stuff you mentioned is frequently romanticized not only by BL but by media in general.

If you ask me, I'd rather forgive a cheater than a rapist and that goes for reading too.

Basically the readers simply romanticize the hell out of that toxic crap but can't do the same with cheating.
