it just seems like every mf manhwa that comes out or gets popular is smut with a shitty ML. “you can say jinx” it IS jinx but its also a ton of others, like this must the the recipe for a hit manhwa. its always a bottom that needs help and can’t refuse, and a top that is sadistic and has no meaning of consent. and I’ve seen some say “well you just don’t like dark romance “ like girl i love horror and have read dark romances and enjoyed them, its just that this format? its boring. every character is the same, we all know whats going to happen, and its not even good. and side note: ppl seem to be way more forgiving of abuse in BL than in het and that is whole other can of nasty worms.
look, i genuinely don’t care if ppl read or like these things. it ain’t real at the end of the day. but I’m sick of ppl pretending like these are some jaw dropping award winning pieces, or that they AREN’T just smut non-con porn. its okay to be like “yeah i like fucked up porn” and move on, don’t try and tell me it has depth.
and I’m gonna say it, most of the time the MLs that are abusive aren’t even hot enough to withstand the abuse. I’m like fr? you gonna let HIM do that? man looks like Jake from State Farm.

Theres plenty of unique manhwa w/ plots out rn but ofc the most popular ones will be whatever trope is in. Thats the case for prty much every genre tho, not just BL. Kinda pointless to complain abt it
Agreed, i have a list of i think 20+ shoujo, reincarnation/rebirth, villainess, ML/family regrets, revenge. Very few is of quality and can distinguish itself from the rest. But majority is the same plot, stakes, character types etc.
It's always been the case in manhwa where they'd be an oversaturation in 1 trope until the next trend.
Shounen is also oversaturated with isekai too.
Me personally, cant wait until BL decides muscular men (not bara!) is the trend again ლ(´ڡ`ლ). Will always be fiending for guys with big pecs and thick thighs.
