Anyone else who really dislikes Pathetic main characters?
I know it's ironic because people indulge in fiction due to wish fulfillment and self insert which is more relatable when the FL/MC is the underdog, like in a pathetic position and then slowly it changes and stuff Personally I really dislike it A big reason I read webtoons/novels is again wish fulfilment and trope fulfillment. Personally I don't find it appealing when the FL starts out as pathetic as in weak or bland character, or she gets cheated on by her husband/boyfriend whatever, I also don't like when she chases after the ML. I also don't like it when she's considered unremarkable plain blah blah blah by others and the side characters can't believe that a plain Jane MC like her can bag the hot ML
If DONE RIGHT I can appreciate a good weak turned strong chara growth arc, but most of the time its just, "oh I was betrayed so now I'm going to turn cold and calculating" and its VERY overdone and NEVER written well. 3 reply

nah misery porn is so fun i love girl failures who have no pride and chase after the ml even after they're rejected. love it when they're cheated on and have no backbone to say anything too. even better if they don't get better and stay like that throughout the whole series. its kind of a wish fulfilment as well idk what that says abt me though lma...... reply

i'm with ya here. each time i read manga/manhwa/manhua/webtoon where fmc just is written to be pathetic pushovers, who density and stupidity drags essentially the whole world into their chaos. Like either they start out with bad mental fortitude with no growth

Especially when they’re plain… It’s like the ML endures centuries worth of torture and is badass regal and stoic. Then mc is all whiny and shit. Like miss me with that.
