I'm curious about what makes a romance good for you. What are your turn-offs? What hooks you and makes it interesting? What makes a romance feel forced or corny, and what indicates great chemistry?

-when the romance just doesn’t make any sense (one person just suddenly falls in love with the other without any build up)

Turn offs are controlling, manipulative behaviour. eg: “I get jealous when u talk to ___”. Hate the love triangle bs SO much. Hate age gaps, hate power imbalanced relationships and SA is a HUGE turn off. I love it when both characters have a decent moral compass (unless the story is about murder like Killer Crush) and are equals in the relatio...... 1 reply

I think that a romance is good when the connection between the characters isn't forced. It's good when the characters establish connections both with their love interest and with side characters -- a good romance embraces all possible connection imo and by the end of it, you can see how the main character is most compatible with their love interest...... reply
