Under-appreciated story settings or plot devices?
Tell me some of your under-appreciated settings or plot devices you wish were more frequently used! Anything from an overarching world setting, over situations they meet in to detailed plot devices like stumbling and nearly falling but being caught by the love interest (which is such an actually old cliche now that i think about it).
Pretty sure we've all come across something that's good in stories but seldom used. Tell me what you found on your reading adventures or what you thought of by yourself!
Slice of life fantasy BLs!!! When they isekai'd and would rather not be a hero but instead be a chef/blacksmith/farmer/alchemist etc. I see this a lot in danmei but not in manhwas/huas/gas. I need me some pls. Begging the yaoi gods. If i could draw well i'd do it myself but alas ╥﹏╥ reply
For me it's definitely the military as a subject to let characters meet and fall in love.
Korean military service being mandatory for 2 years would make this perfect for people to meet someone and the setting including training and such would be incredibly interesting I think. reply
