i mean i like both, i read them both but there some yuri's fans out there that keep saying that yuris should be more popular than yaois or they should have the same equal amount of popularity.. .. does it really that matter??
I don't think it should be more or less popular, wish it was as popular as BL but i can't force people to like what they don't.
But i think it's very telling that GL is wayyy less popular. Like chicken said, it reeks of misogyny. The amount of women I've met that straight up refuse to read GL because "I don't like it". Honestly it's also kinda hom...... reply

It's about your surroundings, if you are in a site like mggo which is first and foremost a BL site with BL being the main genre (at least it used to be like that). Then ofc you'll think that BL is more popular.

There IS a reason why yaoi is more popular and one of them is definitely misogyny. Have you seen the infighting in both sides? (A great example of this is Alien Stage. I'm going to use a03 as an example, a03 needing to make a whole ranking section for gl fanfics/stories bc of how unpopular it is meanwhile bl always places at least in the top 5 of the top 100 rankings, hell it makes up most of it.
