what is the psychology behind women (straight and/or queer) enjoying bl's and reading stories about men liking each other? whether they feteshize it or read it out of interest.
i didnt expect that many ppl to answer, but i also want to apologize if this question was asked rudely.
personally, i dont have a specific reason to why i read bl and. i read it bc i enjoy all sorts of romance. no one needs a reason to read anything and sorry if i implied the question in an offensive way.

The reason I like bl is because of the fact that the cute, fluffy romance ones aren't as cringe as the straight ones. In the straight romances that I've tried really hard to get into just give me way too much secondhand embarrassment (I get it a lot from bls too dw). Honestly before i read bl i was a dedicated episode, choices,w*btoon, etc reader, ive always LOVED the romance genre but bl opened like a whole new door of things, so after that i was hooked
And now i read more bl than anything bc now its just something i basically grew up with and im used to, i usually stick to things in that way its how i am

Straight romance is too cliche and when I heard there's different types of pairing other than straight I had to try and read.
