Yk kinda stupid to say "fiction doesn't affect reality" when whole purpose of fiction is to affect

Like alot of emotional movies give valuable lessons, specially towards kids and even as adults it affects too because honestly if you cry over a scene. That's already affecting your reality. Any fangirling, any crying, any suspense or any emotion. It's affecting your reality because you're immersed in the story. You are feeling these characters and story itself. Whole purpose of fiction anyway is to affect us, to give us an impression, fiction affects your reality more than you think so.

to an extent it does affect reality, however it doesnt affect the way you think, people indulging in problematic media and thinking it makes them inherently evil/problematic is pretty absurd, if it does affect them, the fiction they consumed is not the main leading problem, they obviously had ongoing issues and intentions, being uneducated is also another thing. i personally believe in profiction, its not hard to differentiate the two.

Ooh fair point actually, honestly I'm studying abt this in a psychological way cus of the Sigmund Freud theory, lt made me wonder on fiction too we consume as kids. Honestly from my last research of whether toxic affects ppl or not via their relationship, most ppl who were affected were ppl at a young age that read toxic stuff. So you're right about the uneducated part and ongoing issues. Only I guess problem abt these problematic fiction is that it's feeding off that insane issues.

that's really interesting actually, sigmund freud is so fun to research on, i believe you can be right in that aspect as kids are vulnerable and easily influenced, good luck on conducting your analysis! another thing to mention is yes, perhaps they feed off those issues but the human mind is hard to understand, i myself got groomed twice thats why i seek out the taboo sexual fantasies: abusive/codependent relationships. it is my brains way of coping and taking control of an experience i didnt have control over. i cant say that being traumatised is a case for everybody, but it is a common factor for being into dark things.

Ngl I dont think I ever saw someone say "fiction doesnt AFFECT reality". The closet i can think of is "fiction doesnt apply to reality" which creates an entirely different argument

Rapist lovers always say that and use that argument. Specially shota lovers...
