yaoi into yuri
i am not in any way trying to be rude at all or start anything i'm genuinely just curious and I was gonna ask this on tiktok but i'd probably get stoned but why is it ok to turn yaoi into yuri but not the other way around?
If the gender of a yuri pairing is a central and important factor of their dynamic (e.g., experiences of misogyny and lesbiphobia), which is often the case for so many yuri pairings anyway, it becomes distasteful to just make them both men lmao. Or people just don't like yaoi, which is absolutely fine. reply
I don't see the issue for it but I could think of why is that the yaoi version of the yuri gets more popular than the yuri, I think this happens often with certain ship back in the day but it's 2025 now and ppl love yuri and it's getting more popular so idk. reply
personally I think that's silly and either way is fine but if I had to guess I'd say it's because in fandom spaces yaoi is generally WAY more popular, even when the male and female characters are equally interesting/shippable. so when you already have a lot less fic/art of gl ships it can be frustrating to see them genderbent to make more male cha...... reply
