My country as well stopped doing this years ago and the explanation is that it's just an unnecessary cost. It doesn't take a penny to make a penny. And pennies are virtually everywhere even on the street, people don't seem the value them so it's like money down the drain. reply

Pennies suck... I only pay with cash and when I went to America I was so stressed getting change back cuz not only did I have to deal with trying to hold those inconvenient one dollar bills, the pennies were so unnecessary and made everything harder. I love pennies as a collector because they're cute, but they're not practical at all. Also sometime...... reply

They want to get rid of pennies because they actually cost more to make than they’re worth. Plus, nobody really uses them anymore. Most people just pay with their phone or a card anyway, since you always have that on you. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if cash slowly disappears in the future.
