asking for opinions. this guy let their friend make a joke about molest and when i called them out on it, they said they stand against molestation and their friend just didn’t mean it. am i overreacting??

No you are not overreacting. Making jokes about rape in any context trivialises and normalises it. And only people who don't understand the enormity of gender violence and how entrenched it is, can make jokes about it. No need to accommodate such behaviour or langauge, better to nip it in the bud even at the risk of sounding 'oversensitive'. 2 reply

Nah rape jokes are not a thing to be a joked about, even if dark humour. It makes the situation less serious, literally. People joke so much about their uncle molesting them when honestly... Makes victims feel like a joke. 1 reply
