Why is yumeshipping so disliked?
I fouund out what being a yumeshipper is not so long ago and I noticed that a lot people that said they are yumeshippers get a lot of hate, and I really don't understand why? I don't know if it's because they can be considered problematic or anything like that but shipping yourself with fictional characters or shipping your oc's with them has existed for so long just without an actual name to it. Maybe it's not as hated as I think but so far every time i've seen someone say that they are yumeshippers with x character they inmediatly start defending themselves or saying how they don't care about the hate. So i'm a little confused, why is it so hated??
idk but anyone who gets so pressed about it being unhealthy or something need to realize theyre not professionals and dont know that person irl to really know if its unhealthy for them or not, its more annoying seeing people hate on it than see yumeshippers being corny because they act like theyre therapists reply
i myself have never come across yumeship hate (except for one time in this very own site) so i also don't understand when i hear that a lot of ppl hate on it. i mean yea some of them can get weirdly obsessive about it but like it's nothing new like you said. i think it's partly bcus in recent years, theres a splurge of normies flooding the communit...... reply
I don't know why they get hated, i thought a lot of x reader stories are popular, but i can kind of get it if they are "non-sharing" yumeshippers.i've heard it can get pretty extreme like breaking off friendships because they like itachi from naruto too for example. reply
I cant handle reader x character fics personally but self inserts or someone else's oc is fine bc i feel like im reading from an outsiders pov. So imo I dont know why its hated? I love reading about people's ocs, lol. reply
I think it’s just because it’s really cringe. But just let ppl be cringe and free !!!! I lowkey wish I still got crushes on fictional characters it was kinda fun…

Well, there’s some very and I mean very toxic yumeshippers who will get aggressive, send literal death threats or doxx people if they ship other characters or themselves with their fictional other (if thats the correct term) so yumeshippers have a bit of bad rep.
