Tbh wtf is the purpose of ecogpt?
I downloaded tiktok after a decade then the first video tht pop up on my fyp was about "Use ecogpt instead of chadgpt" because apperantly its planting trees or smth but its still Ai though..
Planting a tree to offset environmental costs doesn't work because they are never native to whatever land they're going to put them on, just contributing to invasive/ mono-crop culture that strips soil of diversity. Never heard of ecogpt but if it’s an actual thing: marketing ploy. For someone who doesn’t know the environmental impact of AI it sounds like a great way to be passively green. Like when people use ecosia 1 reply
Unfortunately this goes for any area in life, you try to do one thing eco-friendly, but most of the time it’s just lowkey impossible. Trading one service for another, probably no matter the service (in most cases) is gonna end up with some downside eventually. Like trading one ai for another (even if it plants trees) or trading streaming services...... reply
