HANNIBAL

alright gang so i have officially started watching hannibal after procrastinating watching it for literal YEARS, and honestly?

it's got my attention.

i haven't watched a show this intricate yet bold in its presentation in like years. so it's been a while. this a warning for later when i actually have some shit to say about the show, but: my meta skills have gotten pretty rusty, so don't judge.

firstly, this is an absolute breath of fresh air. what i have liked most about the narration is the way isolation and loneliness have been depicted. it's raw, gritty and well, visceral (pun intended). the experience feels real to the point it's reaching out beyond the screen. amazing. wonderful. lovely.

it goes without saying, i am so obsessed with mads mikkelsen's portrayal of hannibal lecter. im awestruck. i get all giddy whenever he shows up, like look theres he is. yay!

anyway i'm posting here cause this is where i've been active the most in recent times. so yeah interact with the post or dm me to whomsoever this may concern haha

im in the middle of season 1 btw. .ut im enjoying it so much its insane. wild even. i'll talk to anyone about this peak fr

OKAY GANG DONE WITH SEASON 2. And in one simple word, it was Cathartic. Brilliant perfomance by Mads of course. The finale was everything I wanted and more. Cinema at its finest. Every moment was so intense, my adrenaline pump was working overtime. This is a show of epic proportions.

OKAY I FINISHED SEASON 1. And I'm out of words right now. I'm flabbergasted.

welcome to the fandom of peakness. youve found an absolute gem. have you met my wife, Bedelia, yet? mads is good, but will graham really stole the show

Thank you! Yeah, I have been introduced to Dr. Dumaurier. She's been a delight to have during her screentime!! Hope to see more of her in the upcoming story.
And I most strongly agree that Will Graham did a fantastic job, I came for mads but it was ultimately hugh dancy who made me stay honestly. I'm done with season 1 as of today. Will update the thread as I go. It's been keeping under it's spell the entire week. The season finale was as grand as I had anticipated it to be. Brilliant specimen of a series this one.

oh she is a delight alright. how did you find Alana in s1? ngl her & will's relationship was slowly growing on me near the end, but a lot of ppl dont share my sentiment.

any particular characters that stood out to you?

I really liked Alana throughout season. She's been a significant character in my eyes as she stood strong as a pillar of ethics and sanity in the ocean of mind break and mind boggling-ness for one. Another thing is that she's the only one I can categorize as a true ally to Will as opposed to Jack and Hannibal who wanted to exploit Will's (vulner)abilities as a means to an end. Plus their little conversations have been fun to witness, no matter the vague nature of their romantic inclinations towards one another. I think they'd be on much better terms if not for the dire circumstances where they happened to get closer. oof.

And as for a character that intrigued me...it's Freddie Lounds. She's one of the few who got away unscathed from it all despite all the close encounters with the killer-kind. She's a survivor alright (or is it luck and good journalism?). I like how she's all business. She's nosy but only for juicy stories for her blog. And once she's got her scoop it doesn't matter who kills who. Plus, Hannibal's a fan of her writing so I bet that helps in staying alive as well lol.

Alana is the very definition of human & sane, shes a very grounded character. Freddie is really a diff breed of psychopath imo. shes my absolute favorite. frankly the female characters in hannibal outdo the rest.

do you have any fav crime scenes/murder from s1?

yesss women. freddie said so herself, everyone is pathological. i have no doubt shes some way or the other too. the show definitely passes the bechdel too i believe.

and as for my favourite crime/murder it's got to be the trombonist killed by Tobias. there is a certain creativity and finesse to it which the others lack (in my opinion). it was an interesting. and all the more so because the Tobias arc did end up giving us quite a bit of insight into Hannibal's tendencies.

Do you have any favourite arcs/scenes in season 1 btw?
Also which killing/death did you feel was the least necessary, like it wouldn't affect the plot if this person lived?

tobias had so much potential to be s1 greatest villain/killer but they really butchered his storyline. i was honestly not impressed with what they did with his story.

the minnesota strike was such a strong opener, you probably could tell by how he kept haunting the narrative. its not appreciated enough imo.

i thought the murder of melissa schurr was unnecessary. they could have demonstrated hannibal's cruelty many other ways.

my fav has to be the totem pole. not to sound psychopathic, but that was absolute cinema. art in its cruelest form

im keen to hear your thoughts on s2 finale once you get to it

hi again, a bit of a late response vut i finished season 2. and it was way better than what i had anticipated. especially the last episode??? holy shit, mads was a sight for sore eyes. everything about season 2 felt like an adventure. it feels like such a complete piece of work just in those 2 seasons, I'm a bit hesitant to start season 3. Like everything came full circle. The end.
BUT I'm also curious as to what could possibly be so interesting that they had to make another season after such a peak season finale. Mannn i am dilemma.

It’s one of those shows that if you watch over again you find out something that you didn’t notice before I love shows like that. Makes my brain do overtime! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
