The name that will just disappear
Cold wind from the long night is hitting me as I lie down on my hammock. ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

The Name That Will Just Disappear

I think my name is slowly being forgotten by the people I know, and the worst part is that I might forget it too.

The name my friend gave me is Dim. I really like it because it perfectly captures me as a whole.

Weak person.
Weak health.
Weak stamina.
Weak heart for people.
Weak when strong emotions come.

Dim also stands for “Di mio” — my own.

My friend gave me this nickname because it reminded them of how weak I was when we were still children, when everything was just us eating crayons.

This name has become my personality and my life. It helped me realize how my friends treated me with kindness, knowing I was the weak one in the group. They treated me like everybody else, making me not think I was special just because I was weak — the light in my heart was just dim as they said

But as time passed, Saturdays that used to be spent staying up all night laughing and playing became nights spent looking at college applications. The light at 2 a.m., which once only came from glow-in-the-dark stars, now comes from a computer screen. Laughter has turned into the sound of back-and-forth arguments as they slowly grew apart and finally started calling me M.
