What was the hype ?
I've been watching sailor moon the past few days and I don't understand how it could have been so popular. The girls are cute, they have funny personalities and their interactions are funny. But like... the 5 sailors have the most annoying powers and the villains have all better designs and outfits. They dressed the girls to attract pedophiles, wearing tiny little skirts to save the universe from the megaverse ?? Last but not least, why are there so many pedophiles characters ? Tuxedo mask is the youngest of the bunch, entertaining an ambiguous relationship with a teenager while being a university student. I enjoyed Jedyte and Neflyte's deaths, especially Neflyte's bc WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU TELL A 14 YO BABY THAT SHE'S IN YOUR HEART ???? Neflyte used Molly too many times, he absorbed her energy (the unrequited love she had for him) to not get fired by his boss then he came back to her a few other times knowing damn well he would either get energy or Sailor Moon out of being close to her. Anyway, I watched the whole first season and a few other from the second one and I should have been done a while ago. The English opening theme slaps though (only watched the dubbed version so im not comparing to the original version) FIGHTING EVIL BY MOONLIGHT WINNING LOVE BY DAYLIGHT NEVER RUNNING FROM A REAL FIGHT SHE IS THE ONE NAMED SAILOR MOON Anyway, anime recs ?
i think it’s because of the time it was aired, the whole magical girl genre was very much unprecedented. at that time, it was very rare to see themes like queer representation and women empowerment so it cemented itself as a forefront in driving the magical girl genre. later on, it became a whole genre itself—Sailor Moon IS the brand that every...... 1 reply
Is it really that hard to understand why little girls loved the show? The criticisms on the adult x minor relationships are valid, but there's a lot of good in the show too. It's got pretty magical girls saving the world with their friends. It's got core themes of love, friendship, courage, perseverance, and tenacity. The outfits are also not pedop...... 1 reply
Watch sk8 the infinity. It's the best show I've ever watched tbh and it's kinda gay if you're into it, on that note yuri on ice is amazing too I love them. I'd recommend violet evergarden too since it's an incredible story of the journey of a girl who was used as a tool for war in finding out the meaning of "I love you" but it's the age of the man ...... 1 reply
