Why is it that the ugly person (they say ugly but they just don't have the "perfect" facial features of a renaissance painting) is always the villain in a story? A creep, a stalker, a molester, a serial killer it's always someone made "ugly". What, good looking people can't be creeps? Or is it because readers will romanticize them just cuz they're good looking and forgive their actions?? That's fucked up man....just cuz someone isn't conventionally attractive doesn't mean they can't be good or that they're always weirdos.... So good looking people are the heroes and ugly people are villains??? Read so many manhwas where it's the ugly dude who has so many grudges and takes some sort of revenge bc of something stupid, so at the end of it everyone points their finger at him and calls it a day, because it's easier to put the blame on someone ugly rather than someone who's conventionally attractive because if you look good = you're a good person so that image will shatter if a good looking person is a bad person. This is influenced in real life too, do you guys remember one guy street raced and crashed into a woman and her daughter and when he was sentenced to 24 years in prison everyone on the internet wanted him to be released because "he's hot"? And 24 years is "excessively harsh" when he hit a woman and her BABY? No this is not "just fiction" this time. Every single piece of media portrays attractive people as some angels who do nothing but good and ugly, fat people as bad people who are nothing but a burden to society. People gotta understand when you wither away everyone is the same flesh and bones that look disgusting when maggots rot them. Really, this is going too far.
It's a very commonly held belief that attractiveness indicates morality & goodness. It's phrenology & pseudoscience, the belief that you can tell how intelligent a person is by their physical appearance. It's also connected to racism, as most things are once you go back far enough...

it also depends on what kind of genre you're reading and whose the demographic/author. You usually find more varied faces and bodies in male characters in male-oriented stories, so on average, I've seen a lot of villains with face/body variety, but I wouldn't call the...... 1 reply
