Women in Shonen manga
Hi ! I'm writing an essay for my senior year, and I figured I might ask here as well since I read a lot on this website. If you could answer that'd be super nice <3 Any opinion is welcome (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
>>> What's you opinion on female characters in shonen manga ?
Do you like the character design ? Are they relevant to the story, do they feel important to you ? Do you think they are a good representation of real women ? Do you care, or is it not important if they are not ? Are the action and epic the only thing that matters ?
The idea is to have the overall perception you get of these characters !
> for reference the mangas I'm talking about in my essay are Frieren, Chainsaw Man, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, Solo Levelling (specifically the anime since it's japanse animation)

In terms of representing real wome...... reply
Hello! I'm really not the best in writing but I'd like to share my thoughts. It's really hard to find an actual female character who has a personality beyond just being a part of the MC's world. I personally heavily fw w My Hero Academia and even tho I love the writing, The fan-service is HORRIBLE. People tell you not to complain because animes or ...... reply
I grieve them.
Some of the mangas mentioned here are popular and most have a male dominated fandom. It's good that they are popular and there is diffently a reason why, but since by litteral definition shonen is cattered to young male audiences. Most of these women are reduced and compared to words useless, annoying, in the way, weak and the wors...... reply
