I am just gonna give my unwanted opinion that yes BL community has gotten worse. This is not to say it's unbearably so or it cannot get better it's just a part of becoming mainstream ig.
There are like two factions of people 1. Completely in favor of toxicity and such nature in the medium that they forget the limits in fiction(extreme non-con, or certain pedophilic elements) 2. Absolute moral police who read the same stories but then trash talk the author as well as fellow readers.
There is also this constant friction due to piracy users and people who read on official platforms. While it's understandable I don't see this in other communities as much.
Oh and don't get me started on the delusional fights people have over "who is the better black flag and 1000 words of why it is so", girl they are all trash, why are you trying so hard to prove someone is good who would be considered a criminal by IRL standards. Just read them as jack off material because that is why they are written, they aren't meant to be compared to IRL standards in anyway.
There is also another concern I have with how much toxic content there is and kids can consume that with no limits. Now you might say well porn does the same..well atleast porn is shunned, yaoi is openly discussed on social medias, it's just something very concerning.
