What are your personal top underrated movies that you really liked?
Underrated in this context means that the movie did not earn well in the box office.
Some of the movies in my personal list (in no particular order):
1. Fantastic Mr. Fox - Wonderful cinematography and voice acting. The story was nice as well. I guess the issue people had with this is possibly because it was a stop motion film.
2. Annihilation - One of the best cosmic-horror films out there. The ending brings more questions than answers. I really liked the simple but interesting opening sequence and the final confrontation with the "being" was just .
3. Color Out of Space - Admittedly, the beginning seems to be dragging and boring but when things started to pick up, this film immediately became as one of my favorite cosmic-horror films. The climax was so wonderfully chaotic. One of the best visualization of reality breaking apart in my opinion.
SUCKER PUNCH. It flopped coz critics thought of it as an anti-feminist movie focusing only on the authors so-called 'fetishizing woman' coz of their role there. Yup somebody criticized it that way.

Shutter Island - I honestly enjoyed the movie and sat engrossed throughout the entire movie. Of course it’s not Scorsese’s best, and like everything it has its flaws. But personally, I believe it’s not talked about enough.

- romantic film about a couple who travels to Italy, one of them more for work. The other, the main character has an affair with a younger guy which leads to self discovery. She ends up fine ;) reply
