Misogyny in shoujo and josei

You know what, one thing I can never take seriously is when certain shoujo/josei fans act morally superior while dragging every other genre to hell. BL fans get called misogynistic every five seconds, shounen gets treated like the root of all evil, yet some of the nastiest hatred toward female characters comes from the shoujo/josei communities. Especially korean manhwas (mostly the villainess isekai stuff)

Like genuinely, it makes me sad. I open a shoujo manga or manhwa and more often than not every woman besides the female lead is immediately demonized by both the author AND the fandom. The second a female character is confident, jealous, flawed, ambitious, emotional, overly sweet or simply gets close to the male lead, people start acting like she committed war crimes. God forbid a woman has a personality outside of worshipping the protagonist.

And the way complex female characters get treated is insane. Ya'll beg for "well written women" until one actually appears, then suddenly she's a manipulative snake, a pick me, annoying, evil, or "deserves it." Some of these women genuinely deserve apologies for the amount of overhate thrown at them. The reactions get so extreme over fictional women that it starts feeling deeply misogynistic in ways people refuse to acknowledge.
