This is specifically for Blossoms of the White night fans who genuinely believe the story isn't orientalist as hell guys please YOU CAN LIKE THE STORY AND STILL ACKNOWLEDGE THE ORIENTALISM. My favorite book series is a badly written fantasy sport story where the only Latino gay male is a flirt who harasses every guy he meets and who sa the main character IM LATINA I see the racist stereotype i acknowledge it and i criticizes it and i still love the books (title is: all for the game) it's a book series that reads like fanfiction but it's FUN
People these days just refuse to engage with the stories they love through a critical lense and also take any criticism, no matter how mild it is, like a personal attack on them, their moralities and also on the authors themselves. Like you can like whatever you like and STILL be aware it might not be the best work of literature ever made, you know...... 1 reply
