i read the entire series and the show and thought they were pretty good. the only problem is the fandom, with a large portion of them being weirdos who use AI in their ao3 fics
it’s literally not that deep, we all read yaoi on a daily basis, how is heated rivalry so different from all the pornslops we read ?
i see so many bad reviews abt heated rivalry, but i find it really dumb, because the only problem with this show is its fandom. they’re all weirdos and it lowkey ruins the show.

Overrated. Story, performance, plotting, direction, characters, side characters, they are all pretty mediocre and forgettable, it's targeted at straight women who consume bl, the show reeks strongly of fan service. the demographic has become big enough to be profitable and that's why sensationalistic, low effort media is given the credit it doesn't...... 3 reply
The same shi goes every time that a series like this reach the main stream and the eye of pop culture. It happened with Heartstopper, it happened with Red, White & Royal Blue, and it's happened with plenty of other queer media, every time is like this, so i truly don't care more. It’s good, decent actors, decent filming, overall just decent. Season 2 will probably be even better now that they have a bigger budget. My only issue is sometimes it has the love Simon vibe where you can tell it was written by a bisexual white woman. 1 reply
I honestly enjoyed it. The sex scenes got to be a bit much, but I thought it was a good story regardless. It didn’t matter too much to me, it’s easy to skip through. I think shows like HR getting popular is overall pretty good, cause it ultimately leads to more acceptance in the real world. I liked that mental health struggles and internalized ...... reply
The only thing that I actually like about it is how wonderfully they worked on the blocking. Beside that as a yaoi girly, it's does not really have the wow factor. I can't really compare them with the stories I read. reply
