yall im getting SO annoyed with how often a character 'proclaims their love' by coercing the other into sex ik its just fiction but i can only shut my brain off for so long i literally searched up how to post A Thing on mangago bc im so annoyed
i get that we are here to read smut first and plot second but i cant take much more of 'character is manipulated into sex by someone they trusted but its a new day so its ok now :)'
and how its often never addressed or its passed off like it was nothing by both the story itself and the readers. i PRAY you guys already know that being pressured into sex and is NOT consent and just have your brains shut off for the sake of reading slop as well. someone that loves you should NOT BE PULLING THAT SHIT!!!
the infuriating part is wondering if its written with the intent of being coercion bc if so, WHY DO NONE OF THE CHARACTERS RECOGNIZE IT OR CARE???
brother.. your bestie just told you their partner pressured them into sex and youre just smiling and nodding and giggling.
or does the author think constant harassment is just a silly cute character trait. the concept of coercion just doesnt exist to them. if your partner borderline rapes you but then gives you puppy dog eyes and says theyre so sowwy afterwards then its okay 'i cant get mad when you look so cute'
at least pwp abuseporn rapeslop often shows
the psychological effects behavior like this has on others. AT LEAST ITS ACKNOWLEDGED. but when it comes to stories that are supposed to be 'healthy' and 'romantic' ect. and one character is guilt tripping the other into sex while they are crying in a NonSexy way and repeatedly saying stop.
just for it to all get blown over the morning after..
esp when character is like 'i cant believe The Kid I Raised just raped me >:( but.. it felt so good.. uwu'
GIRL
i get so upset on behalf of the character and the worst part is that i end up getting unwillingly attached to some of these mfs and keep reading when i already know it wont get better, maybe the doomed yaoi was this fictional abused office worker and i all along

(Holy rant I'm so sorry )
This. It is genuinely such a problem, to the point that having a favourite comic on this site feels a bit criminal to tell other BL fans in real life.
My favourite Manhwa is Low tide in the Twilight. I loved the character development Euihyun and Taeju had, and so many online fans agree with me. But when I bring up my discomfort on Taeju's past actions, they clamour in aggression, which is diabolical. He COERCED, no, FORCED Euihyun to have sex. Raped him once, in fact, while he cried for him to stop. But all I get to hear in return is "He consented, don't spread misinformation". The delusion is not pitiable, it is creepy. Tons of people call him a green forest, when at max he is a yellow flag.
Another thing I fucking hate about this, which is something you mentioned as well, is that the characters who are raped seem to not suffer from the psychological trauma this interaction leaves. They have the same reactions that women from slop Hentai animations have when they are molested in a bus and say in reply to the fucking assaulter who just finger-fucked them, "It feels so good; whatever shall I do~", when the comic itself is 'Slice of Life'. And while people say that fiction and reality are separate (something which I also support wholly), we cannot deny that fiction is a reflection of reality, and often times, when it isn't a reflection, it makes reality one. Several people's definition of love is derived from the media they read. I have seen people say, genuinely, that they keep their private parts shaved because what if someone decided to rape them on the street and felt grossed out by their hair. It sounds fake, and I really wish it was, but it is a thread I've seen on Tumblr in the past. This whole "letting stuff blow over after uke was brutally raped because the seme is OBVIOUSLY in love with him" (when the seme isn't actually in love and just wants to fucking dominate the uke) is warping people's definitions of normal relationships.
