Long story short I lost some friends because I jumped into a new relationship within a month. The thing that bothers me is that one of them (high school male friend) was making such an effort to hang out RIGHT as I left my previous relationship. He kept nudging for hang outs that I started feeling weird about it and tried to brush him off. I always try to make time to meet with friends I really just wanted to catch up with old friends which included him and an old group I hung out (plus other friends outside of that friend group).
I tried to give benefit of the doubt since he never made any moves nor was direct with me since he just kept asking to hangout to random outside areas. Well, I ended meeting a guy and started dating blah blah and soft launched on socials. The friend who kept asking to hangout went silent on me and later on I found from another friend why.
He and other people in that friend group were complaining how “I moved on too quick” “Why would she choose him but not (friend’s name)” and they were most likely consoling him since he was ranting about my relationship. Because of that, I lost a few friends because I didn’t catch the hint that he wanted to date me…
It irks me more because some were actually siding with that ex-friend, yet they were complaining I moved on too quick but also rooted that ex-friend and I had potential to be together even though I just left a relationship??? The guys in that friend group honestly had such a “nice guy” mentality and ended up cutting ties with me just for something that they never brought up to me until I had to hear from an old friend…who told another friend that finally told me…
Because of that experience, I don’t think hanging out with guy’s one-on-one is good. They end up thinking to themselves it’s a date =_= Sucks that I lost friends from high school but it’s for the best if they were talking behind my back about my relationship when it’s literally not affecting them whatsoever.
