you might have heard these, but I'd suggest: pink floyd - time; comfortably numb slowdive - morningrise; star roving; when the sun hits; allison (these might not be what you asked, but the guitars in slowdive's songs are terrific)   2 reply

Autechre. After learning that Charli XCX and SOPHIE (bless her soul) were influenced by them, I've decided to give them a listen. That's one of the best decisions I've made in my youngin' life. Their music sounds nothing like I've heard before, not even within electronic music. I'm in awe at how they used rhythms and melody to make something that......   reply

cisheteropatriarchy can you please fuck off so that I can live, love and fuck in peace? I don't need a rigid idea of masculinity, what men should be, and heterosexuality imposed onto my life and everyone else! along the way capitalism, racism, imperialism, misogyny, fascism, transphobes; just fuck off will you?   reply

I have one, and it's a mousedeer! I chose it because they're small, nimble, and smart. Qualities that I have (for the first two), and I aspire to be (the last one, of course). I wish I can draw so that I can realize it. Perhaps in the future I might commission someone to make it. In the meantime this is close to what I imagine (art by greensodacu......   1 reply

we all seriously need to develop critical consciousness within ourselves. inject into ourselves class consciousness, feminist consciousness, queer consciousness, eco-consciousness, and others more I might be unaware of. learn from critical theory, and apply it in our thinking and daily lives. don't fall into the rut of identity politics. taking id......   reply

To be honest, as long as the ideology, beliefs and material conditions that people like him embody still exist, it doesn't matter if his parents didn't fuck. As long as such beliefs exist, there will always be a figure like him, perhaps even worse in actions.   1 reply

Some films I can think of: - Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (for me far more brutal than Oldboy) - Come and See (after watching this you would learn the harrowing nightmare of life during wartime) - Pink Flamingos (though I admit I enjoy rewatching it because it's just hilarious once you got over the blatant filth and shock factor, but I'm sure for some......   reply

Satantango by Laszlo Krasznahorkai. I've been reading it since Bela Tarr adapted it for the screen. It's bleak, very bleak. The world is on the verge of collapse; everything is rotting; it's wet and muddy. The story is told in a single, dense paragraph, which makes it a tough read for me. Despite how dizzying the sentences could be sometimes, it i......   reply
