So what are shoujo, shounen, ecchi, harem or hentai? If not a representation of the patriarcal society...They didn't need yaoi to reach that goal, it makes no sense to portray its own gender in a derogative way to just make it work when it has been working all along. Fortunetly, the world of BL begins to change, as now we have more diversity with Korean and Chinese BL. Among Korean BL, there are an increasing amount with healthy relationships. I've dropped some. There are mainly three types I'll drop - The cliché ones. I just can't anymore! There are so much good stuff nowadays that I'll drop the webtoon when I feel the story/characters are similar to what I've already read. Fujoshi = female who loves reading BL. Just to make it clear. The term is only pejorative in Japan and that has nothing to do with fetishising or shipping M/M. They're just called "rotten" because they don't follow the "right patch", be a good girl, smile and don't do anything embarassing (reading sexual/LGBT stories are).
