The issue imho is how both sides escalate each other.
On one hand, there are ppl who defend the inclusion of taboo topics in media but become very dismissive of criticism, they all hide behind the thin veil of the “fiction vs reality” argument without engaging with the concern that fiction can influence perspectives over time.
