There are various types of yaoi. In general, it's normal to be turned on by smut yaoi if you are interested in men. There are so many other ways to refer to characters like shortened real name, intials, obvious feature/personality trait, MC/ML etc. But when they do the "seme/uke" thing (even in 18+ BL), it just feels like they don't care about the character.
