Kind of? I never really get to know most artists personally apart from their work. I would say I still love their work but, if it's a bad person looking at a piece just reminds me of the bad things they did which, of course, makes the work hard to enjoy anymore. I don't read much yoai actually but, I do read bl. That being said, when you sift through all the trash and find one that really hits it's great. I do read it for the plot. Straight stories are also more common so there's more trash to sift through which I don't enjoy.   reply

It's the same for anime though. A lot of people just like what's popular but, that popularity is what gives the genre exposure so it becomes rare to meet people who actually like the genre because they like it and not because it's what's trending.
