In chapter 2 when Hayashida is thinking about his past with Yumi and he drops his old phone with this totally depressed end of the world lifeless face, its a correlation to his relationship with Yumi, he is broken so he (attempts) to break his phone (a metaphor for Yumi) while also letting it go. Then you see him get a text from Shuuna and he smiles and clutches his new phone tenderly (a metaphor for his feelings for Shuuna). I just thought it was such a great and subtle way to contrast the two relationships as he's thinking about them without being in your face obvious about it. Such a great Mangaka!!!
