I like that he never asked for forgiveness, knowing he shouldn't be forgiven. His sadness, guilt and the way he never wants to hurt anyone again is genuinely sincere. I came to read again and again for him. I love that the story doesn't make him forget what kind of person he was, and what wrong he did.
I always like characters like him, it is humanly realistic to become something we don't want to become, in his case he become an abusive person.
