And why would he slash Lucaon in the present when you can clearly see that it has nothing to do with Kyon being scared and there was no one around to trigger the other reaction that the OP mentioned? Plus, the other person present warned him to look out just before the hand approached him. There was nothing else for her TO be warning him about.
