This universe seems to be located right between the two universes of Naruto and Fairy tail. Also, I suspect someone kidnapped Hinata's unknown twin brother from his crib in the Haikyuu-universe and threw him in as the protagonist. Now, this might read as negative criticism; it's not, really. In fact, this just might turn into another favorite shounen!

Aster and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church, and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next sorcerous emperor. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Aster could not use magic at all, and tried to make up for his lack by training physically. When they received their grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf-clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Aster received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Aster's power was revealed—he received a five-leaf-clover grimoire, a "black clover" book of anti-magic. Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal!

OMG THIS MANGA IS ABSOLUTE FAB!! The fact that aster is one of those hilarious air-heads who don't know that they have great power, makes this manga very enjoyable. He has great power but doesn't use it. He doesn't even know it .

Really i just could not get enough i really loved this manga its so touching it even made me cry how aster never gives up it includes so much its funny , sad , so much action at some points you could say light romance because some girls fall for him because aster helps them however nothing to bad i recommend reading this!! ( you can really relate to him in some way i just loved it

this is a joke, asta(the mc) work hard to have the power while yuno(the side character) gets the buff, bruh the author favors yuno more than the mc

Bro Yuno got all the mc's privilege. He's a prince, handsome, got two grimores, chosen by the wind spirit, loved by mana, became a grandmaster and his mom's alive meanwhile Asta kept pushing himself to become stronger and not an ounce did he blame anyone for what's happened to him yet, the kingdom kept looking down on him for being a "peasant" and despite his efforts to protect the kingdom they suspected him to be a devil... I would actually support him if he ever decides to join the demons and destroy that little bitch of a kingdom. Also, I kinda hate how even if Yuno does completely nothing all graces would fall on him. It's like theyve given him all the "mc's good privilege" and gave the leftover to Asta ://

Not y'all hating Yuno just because he was gifted, u guys don't know how sad it is to someone gifted like him to know someone was jealous of him, u don't know the sadness he felt bcos u guys always pity Asta, u don't have time to loof for others. I'm speaking psychologically and don't do bias in judging. Yes, I know that Asta is hardworking and life is unfair like lol how did life even became fair right? And it's not their (ppl who are gifted) fault to be that gifted. Y'all are just jealous to him don't even try to deny it lol.

I can say for the second time here THAT I WAS READING THIS SHIT BEFORE IT GOT AN ANIME.

I don’t really read shonen that much cause it starts to get annoying when they start introducing derivative characters just so they can fight but this is a really good one please remember yuno is asta’s friend cause if not he can get on your nerves but the arts amazing and they make you enjoy the characters and like scenes where they just talk so it’s really cool missing a star though for having wonky pacing
