It was a pretty well done manga; interesting plot, nice pacing, good art, etc, but it really seemed to be lacking quite a lot of medical knowledge. I think if the author had done a bit more research, it could have been a very good story. As it is now, the resolution doesn't make much sense. And, somehow, the MC seemed way too clueless to be a doctor. Case in point: when he and Sekiguchi get back the results of the virus blood and are told it doesn't match any current viruses, he feels relief. As a medical professional, your first instinct should be fear since it could mean you're dealing with a completely new infection. Little details like that make it a bit hard to get into the story as someone going into medicine.
Read this a long time ago and to be honest the horror that I got back then differ from what I feel now. The uneducated me back then was scared because of the disgustingly portray of the infected, similar to how I felt to the movie Saw. But now, I fear of the fact that a single cell (well, in this case it's not even a cell per se) with the sole purpose of preserving its kind, much like us, could totally wipe out humanity without warning and we'll be forever in battles to combat them until god knows when (maybe when he's had enough, or bored).
But still, this manga was a big turning point in my life. The thing that inspired me to take on microbiology (and suffered because of it) in uni. Hope that 5 years education thaught me something.
Dang this was not the horror I was expecting. The story was alright I guess. It’s about a new fictional deadly virus in Japan. Not my type of lore but i pushed through
So the end is just the beginning, eh? Although the ending felt a bit rushed but I'm glad it's a happy ending for Ooshima and Akari. Otenera is anything but fit to take his role as doctor, the reaction he makes everytime Sekiguchi or the other characters informs him about the virus is somewhat amateurish. Also, Mori is so weird, when said the virus is violating her cells she's all red and seemingly aroused. Like wth girl? As for Sekiguchi, I'd give his character a high rating for being sensible.
