In post-war Japan, Aoi spends his time working as a translator for the Americans and waiting at the docks for returned soldiers. It's been three years since the end of the war, but without a killed in action notice, he can't help but hold out hope that his best friend, Takahiko, could one day return. But when Takahiko does finally come back, he's his usual, grinning, carefree self with no explanation for the three years without so much as a letter. Aoi is enraged and punches him, but he still lets Takahiko stay at his house in the meantime. Now as Takahiko seeks employment as a screen actor and Aoi tries to figure out his muddled feelings, will they be able to overcome the pain and trauma of the war? Really beautiful and bittersweet story that encapsulates the way war destroys lives, yet life moves on. Trigger warnings: wartime violence, racism.

Def felt like I watched a Japanese old movie drama, the author successfully made it feel nostalgic through its art. The storyline was simple and no angst, just normal issues between lovers. I can understand why some prefer lieutenant Walter, he’s a good guy but it would've been too hard for him and Aoi if they ended up together, especially at that time, Aoi would be ostracized by his people. Takahiko might be a jerk, but his feelings are genuine, and it shows because after all those years of being separated from Aoi, he still went back. It’s a good read but the translation seems a bit off sometimes, more like there was a missing panel.

Uuuu that was so beautiful i loved it.
I was scared cuz of the historical genre but it was sooo good and the feelings and the pace and the characters who felt soo alive.

Two men reunited after Japan lost the war. Uke waited for four years thinking the Seme has died in battle, only for the Seme to suddenly showed up saying he’s been back two years ago. Seme had too much pride to admit that he wanted to make something out of his life before meeting the uke again, and he was also afraid that the uke would’ve gotten married by the time he returned

So short I think it's missing a few chapters but it's a good story

this is super cute ngl but they could’ve done so much with this plot. the seme was lowkey a manwhore lol but i love the uke.

I dislike the seme so much. He had no reasons not to write to the uke, his reasons for staying for 2 years was weak as and he came back without being any better. So what was the point of making the uke wait for 4 years in misery. The uke was such a foolish idiot in love. Can't believe after all the sh*ts the seme put him through, he still loves the jerk
