Woww a lot was done in 6 chapters! So much plot and character development, it was very interesting.

Woah woah woah, another medieval prostitute storyline... Even though I've read similar stories before, I can't help but like every single one of them, it's always full of sweetness, desperation, and hope as well, there's usually an actual plot in these kinds of stories and the plot in this one was greattt, though I think it would be better if there's more smut, but oh well, the story's good enough, so it's fine

The one about a beautiful boy used by a chinese official to gain favors. He escapes and eventually meets someone he loves but a powerful overlord becomes obsessed with him, killing his lover and taking him to his harem. Many sex scenes, very twisted and tragic.

A guy born from a prostitute meets a stupid but strong guy. Then he is taken by some noble to be a whore. Then after 5 years his time is out and he is about to be executed. Some other noble lets him go.
He's taken in by some farmer, brother of the stupid soldier. Then comes the noble and kills the farmer and takes the whore with him.
The soldier rages and attacks the mansion of the dying noble, and takes the whore with him.

Historical prostitution but somehow even more twisted

Kinren is the son of the top prostitute in his small Chinese village. His mother is dying, he is ostracized because of her profession, and he can't see any future except following in her footsteps by selling his body. Then he meets Bu Shou, a strapping, earnest, if somewhat naive man about his age who has lucked into a small governmental office. When Bu Shou thoughtlessly endangers himself by resisting a governmental official wanting to make Kinren a concubine, Kinren protects him by saying that this is the life he wants. Kinren's miserable life afterward is buoyed by the memory of his feelings for Bu Shou, who is like the sun to him.

I loved everything about this manga with all its delicious melodrama, kinetic energy, and intermittent goofiness. The story is based on figures from Chinese myth, and it shows in Bu Shou's strength and the way that Kinren's beauty functions in the story. But it also has its human moments - Kinren's abusive, syphilitic mother's dying words and the conditions in their village that make Kinren want to leave come to mind as examples. It is also very pornographic. When Kinren is a member of various harems, the sex is explicit and fetishised. All in all, it makes for an unusual BL manga.

For me, this was a treat - particularly given that all of our heroes are working class and all of the villains are governmental officials and aristocrats (a rarity in historical manga, which tends to glorify the ruling class). It's refreshing to read a lively story that manages to be goofy and poignant, featuring art that is more typical of shounen manga in a retelling of a historical love story with a proletarian sensibility. I especially appreciated the added queerness at the end (a hyper masculine presenting character is revealed to be a woman, to the delight of the very feminized all-male harem). I recommend this if you're in the mood for an odd historical melodrama with dynamic art, good pacing, and a healthy dose of camp.

Nothing for our main pairing, but there is a LOT of very sensual depictions of Kinren (who is a sex slave) servicing his masters. This is a have your cake and eat it too manga where sex scenes ostensibly meant to illustrate how trapped and miserable our lead character is are drawn to be titillating. It didn't bother me at all, but if you're looking for a manga that doesn't feature rape/dubcon, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Kinnen is the son of a prostitute who inherited the petite and beautiful body of his mother. When his mother is dying of syphilis, a traveling nobleman takes a liking to him and forces him to join the harem. Though he loves Bushou, Kinnen pushes away Bushou who tries to rescue him, to protect him. Despite going through hell and back, every decision that Kinnen makes seems to take him farther away from Bushou....

Historical fav. Lots of story.
