i was like, what are the stans rioting about? so i decided to try and see. this is a serious review (as serious as they are in a site like this lol) - the main cast are children (one is a robot, but looks like one so there's that) - with the chapters in here, this is mostly about the characters' adventure - the worldbuilding is great, i'll tell you that - that said, there are few panels and cover pages that are suggestive. most of the covers are normal, but every now and then there's one that just seems unnecessary (posing and skin), and there are panels where i was like? is that really necessary? - the weird fanservice aside (or maybe theyre just for the author....), there is an actual story in it and it's made and told very well - there's a bit of nudity, but they're kids. i don't know where you're from, but when you're that young, there's no malice in it, and it's not like anyone engaged in sexual acts - all that should tell u to be careful lol title speaks for both characters and readers. abyss is apt
An original fantasy adventure, amazing world building. It may look like a kid's adventure, but themewise far from it - this is in the territory of adult storytelling. So if you only see a story about half naked kids and inappropriate 'adult' themes, then you are not wrong, but you are missing the bigger picture theme wise. The story is not for the screamish, as some of the thoughts and ideas tickles the terror and curiosity equally. Abuse and mistreatment is touched upon. I follow the anime, now it is time to dig into the manga version of this gem.
I really do have such a love hate relationship with this series, I love the depth and the storytelling, impeccable world building and character design and development, and how horribly realistic some parts are with the gore and the logic and the humanity or lack thereof; but I also hate how the portrayal of children can be in this story. The author should probably be in jail, like it can’t just be for the story that he can happily draw child boobs or pps because its for the plot; its not like ghost in the shell in which the nudity was a direct philosophical metaphor, I suppose that could be argued that everything in the world of made in abyss is beautiful and horrible and doesn’t shy away from what human morals dictate we should but come on, prushka character design sketches did not need her playing with her boobs. Author needs jail, and therapy, and the editor also needs jail and therapy. I hate that I still love the story, I can only hope this fiction hasn’t negatively influenced someone in reality. But goddamn do I love this story. GAH I HATE MYSELF FOR LOVING THIS Also Faputa just exuding orange cat energy in this new arc is actually the only thing holding my sanity together in this series
Amazing Story and Characters i just wish the Author would not bring his Lolicon fetish into this work as much. i get realism (as an excuse for parts of it) but it bothers me that you don’t even have to look for it it’s just blatantly there …
