Okay so many people said that they don't understand the story so I am just gonna share my analysis on the it. Different readers will have different perceptions so dont criticize me for it if you have any disagreement.

The one that suzuki addressed as God was suzuki himself. At the starting scene, middle-aged suzuki talked with old aged suzuki and the older suzuki asked middle-aged suzuki to take him to the crying child. At the end ch it is shown that the crying child was suzuki after the incident and the older suzuki gave him the tin box.

The butterflies represented the dark feelings such as hatred, guilt, regret etc. The butterflies eating those people showed that those people were drowning in guilt of the past.

I have another that
The story continues in parallel timelines and different dimensions. Th e dreams are actually the consequences of the actions of the characters. The butterflies represent the dark feeling of the characters that haunt them even as they grow older.

I liked it. A sad story but well told. A look at mental illness that in no way romanticises the conditions.

I pity those who don't understand this story, it's such an eye-opening one; Simply beautiful♡ I'm woke

wow. about personal hells and the truths we can't face. pretty brutal stuff, told beautifully. even when it seems too fantastic, there is something so true about sensei's writing. worth rereading given the convoluted nature of the storytelling.
